This class seemed to be easier to follow maybe it's because I am getting use to your way of teaching or what. Maybe it's because the lights where brighter and I wasn't so sleepy
I think that it is amazing to see how posters started and that most of the fundamentals of the past are still what we use today. I guess my question would be who influenced you the most and why, what is it that really pulled people towards simplicity in posters when in life everything is so condensed and complicated

Lecture Jan 20th

Key Points
Type and trying to communicate with others through pictures and markings date back as far as 200,000
We slowly watch pictorial drawings move to more geometric drawings
All over the world humans where using common similar symbols and and shapes
Critical evolution accrued with the invention of the code of Hammurabi
Sumerians where the first to have a phonetic alphabet
Which the Egyptians adapted and made there own
Egyptians invented hieroglyphics around 3100 bc
book of the dead the first book with color
even thought the asians contribution was private they did make the first moveable type, woodblocks, and reliefs that others followed
throughout time type is simplified to circles squares and triangles
greeks came up with left to write reading
trajan column
illuminated manuscripts
gutenburg-textura

It is interesting to see how type was developed over the years how far back it dates and how long it took to get to the basic latin alphabet that are fonts are based off of today. I also think it's facinating to see that once we did have a basis for type how fast it took off.
I took print making one and learned the basic techniques for block, lithoprints, coper plates and other forms. But with out taking that class I would have never have realized how long and slow of a process life was. It must have been stress free living back then.
Anyways I think I am still lost on a couple of things but my brain is so overloaded from all of the information that we learned today. I hope to have more questions later
